The Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival is in mid July. I wanna soak in the atmosphere again but I get this bad feeling that the schedule with my other work is going to make it a close call. Some shuffling will be needed. Work is piling up nicely. I love it. Such a wonderful feeling.

After buying pounds of food for a planned bbq dinner when we were at Busselton (south west aus), that evening we somehow ended up at a Chinese restaurant instead. Hence bbq was set for breakfast the next day. It was tasty cos Pauline (right with the scrapper) is a fab chef. She gave the orders. We followed. Patrick (middle with the tongs) was very focus in frying them up. Me (left with a small knife)? I was doing all the cutting, slicing and dicing. It was fun. I've never had a bbq for breakfast b4.

Here is Concave Scream's cover of New Model Army's Green And Grey bootlegged on 23rd Sept 1995. Ive always like their superb harmonies- the spine tingling vox of Sean plus fab backing by Pann. I think this was at The Substation. Not sure cos i didn't label the tape properly. ALWAYS label the tapes. ALWAYS!

I like driving on long empty roads. Week b4 last I was on a travel assignment in Perth/south west australia doing a self-drive tour with 4 other journalist. From towns to shires, from the bluest sky to sad road kills, anyone who loves travelling will tell u, its never too much.

Naturally our startoff point was Perth. Except for the pubs and clubs, its true that all the shops closed at 5ish pm. This is pretty much the same in all the towns we went through. Took my body a while to adjust to this new time table.

About 3 hrs south east of Perth is the shire of Kojonup where a museum center dedicated to archiving the history there, holds engaging personal stories of generations of Aborigine and white settler community.

West aus is like a colony for modern east asian and western economic powers. (like how late 19th century China was cut up into slices by western powers?) In Albany we stayed at a Singaporean owned inn, while the nite b4 we were housed at another Singaporean owned hotel.

My co-driver and rep from the Western Aus Tourism Commission, Patrick was relieved to find out later that it was controlled burning by the fire department. A necessary exercise to prevent hazardous wild bushfire.

Ive never been a fan of berries. Now im more convinced.

u can see sunset anywhere but sometimes it is special at some places.

Somewhere in margaret river. That's not my hat. Its Patrick's.

It took me a few days to "slow down" adjusting to the slower pace of life there. Patrick kept reminding me "When you see a Stop Sign, your car must come to a complete halt." He further warn "The fines are steep." I guess that's the only other thing that resembles Singapore.

Another beautiful day. the weather is cool enough to stick to wearing berms and tee.

They say on good days u can see dolphins swimming around the clear water in Busselton Jetty. We didn't see any but that's ok cos it was the same beautiful day.

J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr played a solo gig in Perth a few days b4. Sigh. I miss it. Gonna miss this too.
